B&W is not only the best mechanic I've ever used in 20 years in SF, they are also the most trusted.This means that if you don't need work done, they let you know. They have never once tried to get me to do work on any of the three cars I've had that wasn't necessary. They have also honestly let me know when I could put something off if it wasn't necessary at the time.The quality of their work is unquestioned as well. Plus, I have never once had a car there overnight. Maybe I've never had a repair major enough, but they have always fixed everything in one day. Drop off in the morning, and if I get off work late they will park the car on the street for me and leave my spare key under the mat. You might think this glowing review is baloney, but I've used these guys for over 10 years through three cars and they have always been awesome. Never once have I ever been dissatisfied. Thanks B&W!

This place is just damn pleasant to deal with. All I needed was a routine oil change and to get new wiper blades put on for the winter. While I was there, I also had them check out a funny clicking noise I had been hearing when I made three-point turns. Turns out the clicking was something in the rack and pinion assembly, was not dangerous, and would be pretty costly fix, and so they recommended NOT doing it. I really trust their judgment, and whenever it does come time to do that costly job, you better believe I'll be bringing it back to them. Also, they're all really nice, which makes a difference. I live over in Oakland, but make the trip in whenever I need work done on my car. Totally worth it, every time.

Once again, I had a wonderful experience with the family at B&W.I just wish my car wasn't so expensive to work on. Not their fault.I will be back!

I've been using B&W for over ten years, bringing my cars in when their free maintenance expires. Most recently brought in my BMW that had a service engine light showing. They weren't able to confirm what the issue was without me taking the car back and driving it till the problem recurred. When it did they did not charge me to take a look again. The reason they're getting five stars is that when I took it back in, they figured out the issue was something that was under warranty and that it should be fixed by an authorized BMW service station. They did all the research on this and left me with a print out of what they thought the problem was and why it should be covered by my warranty. Seems to me they could have quite easily just fixed the problem themselves. This approach is what keeps me coming back even if the visits are sometimes years apart.

Family run...good honest service at a reasonable price

It's hard to find mechanics you can trust. But the people at Brake and Wheel are the real deal. They will take care of your car, fix what's needed at a fair price, and tell you if some things can wait until your budget can afford it. Best mechanics ever.

I've been going to B&W for over 8 years now. They have always given me fantastic service at a fair price. Let me give you a few examples. Just recently I had trouble starting my car. B&W spent an hour checking out the car couldn't find anything wrong and didn't charge me since they didn't need to fix anything.Several years ago I got my brakes fixed. Several weeks later they started made a squeaky noise. B&W rechecked them and fixed them all again all for free. They aren't a discount place but I feel confident that they won't overcharge me for things I don't need and I know I'll always get excellent service from them.

Bill and Wayne are the best. I been taking my two Honda Accords to them for years. When I needed a battery, they told me to go back to Costco where I bought it and get a refund for the remaining life. They could have tried to sell me a more expensive battery, but they didn't. I have referred my whole family to them. When I was going to buy a used car I asked them for their opinion. I asked them to hook it up to their computer and give it a diagnostic check. They said they would have to charge me for the service which I was glad to pay. Instead, Bill drove the car around the neighborhood with me for about 10 mins and told me not to waste my money with buying the car. He told me the struts were shot and did not charge me for the advice. I trust these guys with my cars. They are the most straight up guys I know.
